London’s Cleopatra's Needle is an obelisk that was first erected in Egypt by Pharaoh Tuthmosis III (reigned 1504-1450 BC). It was presented to the British people in 1819 to recognize Nelson's victory over the French at the Battle of the Nile in 1798.
